Technical monitoring of the road link is performed by the O room at the toll station while monitoring of the rail link is conducted from the SRO Centre at Korsør Station.

Monitoring comprises all transport engineering systems and technical installations on the bridges and in the tunnel. These include pumping, ventilation and communication systems, lighting and electricity supply, fire alarms and fire protection as well as navigation and aviation marking.

SRO system

Monitoring is undertaken by a so-called SRO system, a computer-based system that collates data from the engineering systems. Besides the monitoring from the O room, the South Zealand and Lolland Falster police force is authorised to impose traffic restrictions on the road link such as speed restrictions via matrix signs.

Technical monitoring of the rail link's installations is based at the 24-hour service unit at Korsør Station. Traffic monitoring is handled by Banedanmark's regional remote control centre in Roskilde.

The naval base at Korsør monitors shipping in Storebælt enabling the VTS Centre's staff to issue warnings if there is a danger of a vessel colliding with the bridge. Alerted by such warnings, the South Zealand and Lolland Falster police force can close the fixed link to traffic at short notice.

CCTV cameras are installed at several locations, including at barriers and at the top of the pylons. These enable the O room and the South Zealand and Lolland Falster police force to conduct continuous monitoring.
