Policy for Rail Safety
As responsible for maintenance and reinvestment on Storebælt’s rail line, Sund & Bælt fully complies with the infrastructure administrator, Banedanmark's rail safety policy and with The Public Transport Authority’s requirements for rail safety as set out in the infrastructure administrator's safety approval and safety management system.
Through a proactive approach, the aim is to conduct rail operations as safely as possible and with a high standard of punctuality by safeguarding against technical errors and safety-related incidents. The objective is to ensure that S&B's rail line is at least as safe as other Danish rail lines.
Safety risks involved in moving or working on Storebælt’s rail line must always be minimised, taking into account the financial consequences and what is technically possible.
To achieve this:
• Sund & Bælt maintains an effective safety management system for the technical management of the railway.
• Sund & Bælt continuously improves rail safety by actively working with risk and consequence analysis.
• Sund & Bælt maintains an efficient, professional rail organisation through ongoing development, education and training.
• People involved in rail safety actively contribute to safety within their own working area.
• Sund & Bælt sets annual rail safety targets in accordance with the contract with the infrastructure administrator.
• Suppliers, contractors and consultants must comply with rail safety requirements that meet the infrastructure administrator's safety requirements.
• Through random safety checks, inspections and audits, Sund & Bælt verifies compliance with the rail safety requirements.
• Sund & Bælt actively contributes to accident prevention as well as to reporting, investigating and follow up through remedial action of such accidents.
• With regard to the working environment, please refer to Sund & Bælt's working environment policy.
