Sund & Bælt’s policy for Corporate Social Responsibility is based on our values. The policy refers to some of Sund & Bælt’s other policies in which our attitudes are further detailed.

Our Corporate Social Responsibility

Sund & Bælt believes that being one of Denmark’s largest infrastructure administrators carries certain responsibilities. Responsibility, therefore, is a key word in our business.

For Sund & Bælt, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is about contributing to social, environmental and economic sustainability and thus taking responsibility for society around us.

The interpretation of our values in a wider CSR perspective:

  • Business focused

We create financial growth through regard for people, the environment and the economy

  • Customer focused

We set high standards for ourselves, our customers, our partners and our suppliers

  • Commitment/competency

We are responsibly engaged in the world in which we are a part – we think sustainability  in all processes in order to optimise quality

  • Responsiveness to society’s requirements

We are in a dialogue with local communities and the public. We strive to minimise negative social, environmental, climate and economic impact and to maximise our positive contributions.

Sund & Bælt is dedicated to using and promoting Global Compact’s ten principles for Corporate Social Responsibility which comprise international human rights, including workers’ rights, the environment and anti-corruption. This is also known as the triple bottom line because, in addition to thinking in terms of profit, we also think in terms of people and the environment.

In our work with Corporate Social Responsibility, we wish to conduct an open dialogue with important stakeholders and to report annually on our progress and challenges.

Social Responsibility

Sund & Bælt supports and respects international human rights, including workers’ rights (c.f. the Global Compact Principles 1-6)

Sund & Bælt is committed to:

  • Complying with international human rights in all its activities. We do this by continually developing and enhancing our capacity and ability to meet challenges pro-actively.
  • Continually identifying areas where our actions and unique skills can positively contribute to sustainable social development in society.
  • Setting goals and action plans for the years ahead
  • Maintaining an open dialogue with important stakeholders and reporting annually on social responsibility.

The right to a safe and healthy working environment under the UNGC principle 1 is one aspect of our policies and initiatives within the field of social responsibility. It is Sund & Bælt’s overall objective to maintain a healthy and safe working environment with no industrial accidents for our own employees and those partners who work on our facilities and in our offices.

Sund & Bælt’s attitude is that everyone should feel responsible for their own and other’s  working environment and that, through this, everyone thrives and feels secure in their workplace. Everybody, therefore, has a commitment, through proactive conduct, to prevent physical and psychological problems in the workplace.

Environmental responsibility

Our basic values and attitude is to show responsibility for the environmental and climate impact caused by Sund & Bælt’s activities. It is Sund & Bælt’s policy to prevent and minimise environmental impact from the company’s activities through a proactive approach. (c.f. the Global Compact Principles 7-9)

Sund & Bælt wishes to contribute to meeting the objectives set out by society within the environmental area by ensuring that traffic on the company’s facilities and the company’s operations and maintenance are conducted with maximum consideration for their impact on the surrounding environment.

It is Sund & Bælt’s policy to prevent and minimise environmental impact from the company’s activities through a proactive effort. See our environmental policy.

Financial Responsibility

Sund & Bælt believes that social, environmental and financial responsibility is a strategic choice which ensures that our business is sound – in the longer term, too.

Financial responsibility affects the company’s legitimacy, competitiveness and profitability and is, therefore, fundamental to the long-term operations of our business (see Global Compact principle 10)

Sund & Bælt is committed to:

  • Continually identifying areas where our actions and unique competencies can positively contribute to sustainable, economic development in society
  • Working continuously on improving our financial results by setting high targets for growth and value creation and delivering competitive results within these areas
  • Continuing to apply a zero tolerance policy in relation to corruption, bribery and extortion
  • Striving to improve our capacity and our ability to proactively counter corruption in all its forms
  • Maintaining an open dialogue with stakeholders and reporting annually on our financial responsibility and results.
