Sund & Bælt is involved in the local areas adjacent to our infrastructure facilities.
• Bridge Run, which has been organised several times in partnership with Slagelse and Nyborg municipalities and local sports clubs. In this way, we support health in the local community.
• Outdoor rest area at Halsskov planned in collaboration with Slagelse municipality immediately before the toll station (9 hectares). The aim is to create an attraction for the benefit of the local community as well as for motorists and to contribute to better road safety by offering motorists a break during their journey with access to nature and play equipment for children.
• Offshore wind turbines. Sund & Bælt has build an offshore wind farm north of the EU bird protection area at Sprogø. The electricity generated from the wind farm will cover the energy consumption of all Sund & Bælt’s sites. As a result, we contribute to a reduction in CO2 emissions.
• Support for scientific research in partnership with several educational institutions and development projects in relevant areas, most recently in connection with projects concerning the expected lifetime of concrete structures and cable vibrations on large bridges in relation to the Fehmarnbelt fixed link.
• Art at Kastrup Station, Copenhagen Airport where Sund & Bælt has chosen not to advertise on the walls, but to exhibit pictures by Danish artists. This is good exposure for the artists as well as an attractive environment for the many travellers who pass through the station every day.
