Øresund landworks

The Øresund link’s Danish landworks comprise the Øresund motorway and the Øresund rail line.

The 8.6 km motorway extends from the motorway on West Amager where it joins the E20 motorway across Amager, through Tårnby and on to the coast at Kastrup.

The motorway has four lanes and an emergency lane and can be extended to six lanes at certain sections. Through the densely populated parts of Tårnby, the motorway and the railway are covered over a distance of 700m. The Tårnby tunnel has created a green urban area, including a park above the tunnel.

The Øresund line consists of a passenger and a freight line. The approx. 12 km passenger line extends from Copenhagen Central Station to Copenhagen Airport in Kastrup. At Kalvebodløbet between Zealand and Amager the passenger line joins with the approx. 4 km freight line from Vigerslev. There are stations at Ørestad, Tårnby and Kastrup.

Animal life

Particular attention was paid to animal life during the design of the traffic facility.

Draining

Ten pumping stations along the facility drain away ground and rain water.

Some of the water is used as secondary water for the Amagerværket utility.
